[sticky post] Master Fiction List

Author's Note: I'm always open to comments and suggestions on ways to improve my stories and my writing. From letting me know about typos and formatting errors, to pointing out plot holes and canonical errors, I say "Bring it."

As of April 2017, I'm moving my master list to my main journal as I'm dropping my paid account on LJ and I don't know how that will affect my communities. If you have linked to here to get updates or to easily find your favourite fic of mine, you may want to switch it to either my AO3 account or my main journal.

I'm still in the process of switching my soundtracks and fanmixes to 8track, It is very slow, and clunky, and the more I use it the less impressed I am at it's music management system. I may have to look at putting them elsewhere....

Supernatural: Green Grass of Home

Title: Green Grass of Home (on AO3)
Author: etrix
Fandom: Supernatural
Work Type: fic
Characters: Sam, Dean, OCs
Rating: PG-13

Written for: leaves_girl who bought a 20,000 word case!fic and gave me this prompt. It took me a long, long time to get this to her (and it’s not exactly what she requested) so I’ve thrown in a few extra words, (like, 8.000, but who’s counting?).

Summary: Liars never prosper. In fact, in this sleepy town, liars are dying horribly and Sheriff Mike Hardy has no idea where to look for the culprit, so when two improbable FBI agents show up to investigate he doesn’t look too hard at their badges.

Contains: Outsider-POV, minor character death, canon-level violence and gore; mild spoilers for season 8, canon compliant

Story Length Descriptions

Extreme Short: 1-100 words
Flash Fiction: 100-750 words
Short-Short: 750-5,000 words (average 1,000-2,500)
Short: 5,000-15,000 words (average 5,000-7,000)
Novellette: 7,500-17,500 words
Novella: 17,500-40,000 words (alternately, 17,500-75,000)
Novel: over 40,000 words (alternately, over 75,000) (average 90,000-160,000)

Dignity of Dragons - Master Post

Summary: Technically, Harley found the lizard (which was actually a dragon!) and Jared took it home because it was hurt (even though his mama had said no more pets). It was okay though, because Jared didn't intend to keep it. In fact, it had to have escaped from one of the government zoos (and having it in the house was probably dangerous), so Jared planned on returning it (but the dragon had plans of his own).

Characters: Featuring a (nearly) 17-year-old Jared, his family, and his family's pets (which include 2 dogs, 1 bird, 1 gerbil and 2 turtles) and Jensen as the dragon (of course). Also starring Kurt Fuller, Misha Collins, Charles Malik Whitfield, Samantha Ferris and Rob Benedict. With appearances by Jim Beaver, Katie Cassidy, Mark Pellegrino, Demore Barnes, and Lindsey McKeon.

Disclaimer: Unfortunately, there is no way this is true (dragons! *sigh*). It was just a lot of fun to write. Title was shamelessly stolen from David Malki's wonderful poster Supernatural Collective Nouns. Thanks, Nat, for pointing me to it. =]
Word Count: ≈51k

Pairings: None, really. Well, maybe itty-bitty Jensen/Danneel but it's so off-screen as to be in another universe.
Rating: PG-13
Content: AU/AR, action, anthropomorphic, character fic, fantasy, h/c, some language, RPF, some schmoop; Jared's POV

Betas: Once again, rince1windand alecto nyx stepped up to polish, buff, bully, and correct all the things that got by me. This is, quite honestly, much better because of their help and support. Arigatou!

Notes: Written for the 2012 spn_j2_bigbang, so kudos have to go to the wonderful mods: thehighwaywomanand wendy. Kudos also to paleogymnastand slightlysatanicfor their work in the omgspnbigbangsite. Y’all are awesome, seriously.

Less than a month before posting day, my original artist had to step down. Nearly the same day, the mods gave me the name of my pinch-hit artist: sophiap It was unbelievable how quickly she had drafts for me to look at--and they were good, too. Now, I can write. I can (sometimes) carry a tune. I can even draw moderately okay when needed (and given lots of time). I do not have the kind of talent that creates, from scratch, the awesome that is sophiep's illustrations. Thank you, ever so much. =]

One last thing: The views contained in this story pertaining to animal rights and the place of zoos in our society are not necessarily my personal beliefs. I chose the ones that fit the characters and the needs of the plot. I will not discuss zoos, animals rights, or any of that, except as it pertains to the story. Thank you.

SPN: FInders, Keepers [master post]

Summary: Three days after the hot guys disappeared from her family’s motel, Mandy finally cleans out their room. There are charts on the weather and quotes about demon behavior, but there’s also a bag filled with Mary Campbell’s diaries from the late 1960’s. Mandy stores everything behind the counter half-hoping one of the sexy McGillicuddy males will come back for them. In the meantime, there’s nothing stopping her from reading them is there? Written for the 2011 spn_reversebang challenge.

Art prompt: Behind Every Great Man... by viviantanner

Characters: Mary Campbell, John Winchester, some OCs, other canon characters
Disclaimer: I claim responsibility for the original characters, but the rest belong to Kripke and his crew.
Word Count: 20k

Content: Original characters; (mostly) mild language, discussions of discrimination, bullying, politics, and adultery.

Acknowledgements: I love betas. They make me sound so much better than I do on my own. This time round, I had three betas. Since this story had nothing in it my mother couldn’t read, that’s exactly what she did. (Thanks, Mom, for being so kind!) Then my RL friend, Alecto Nyx, covered it in red ink and sticky posts, and finally, rince1winddissected it and helped me put it back together again in much better shape.

Thank you both. You really did help it become a much better story.

Summary: Dean has always been a pain in Sam's butt, causing trouble in school, causing trouble at home. When he disappeared for 7 days the summer of 1997 everybody assumed it was either an overlong party or something to do with a girl. Sam didn't think so. Sam had visions of wings and water and light and death. So when Dean knocked on their front door like a storm-wrecked stranger, Sam stood back and wondered who had shown up at their house.

Characters: Dean, Sam, John, Mary, Castiel
Pairings: John/Mary [off screen]
Disclaimer: These characters are not mine. I just like shaking them out and playing with them.
Beta: slaybelle69. I didn't always take her advice, but it made me take another look at what I'd written, which is never a bad thing.
Word count: 27k
Rating: PG-13

Content: Angst, AU/AR, character death, h/c, language, violence; spoilers for up to 5.01 (Sympathy for the Devil); Sam's POV

AN: Inspired by dollarformyname's prompt for the hoodie_time challenge Writing between the Lines. A challenge where one author offers up a line or two of an unfinished story, and another author picks it up and runs with it. Original prompt is here. The specific lines from the prompt that inspired me are:

their quarry deigned to reappear with an outrageously simple knock on the door. Dean was silent and mussed and worn thin. When Dad demanded to know where the hell he'd been, he just shrugged. Couldn't say. He was different after that.

SPN: Ghosts of Future Past [master post]

Ghosts of Future Past_cover by amber1960

Summary: Dean already knows that the future isn't looking good. Sam's sneaking out at night and lying about it. Dean's pretty sure the angels are dicks and that they're lying to him, too. It isn't until he gets a visit from his own ghost that he realizes just how bad it's going to get, and the future that was becomes part of Dean's memories of the past. Surely, with all that he knows, he can fix things—if he can stay alive and sane, that is. A season 4 AU that bumps into seasons 5 and 6. Written for the 2011 spn_gen_bigbang challenge.

Characters: Dean, Sam and Castiel; with Ruby, Bobby, Uriel, Ellen and Jo
Disclaimer: The characters aren't mine. I just shake them out and play with them.
Word Count: 75k

Pairings: Sam/Ruby [off screen] Dean/Lisa [but not really]
Rating: R
Content: Angst, AU/AR, death, h/c, language, violence; spoilers for up to 6.20 (in a way)

Artist: The talented amberdreams. Go visit her master post and say hello.

AN: Broadly inspired by a_phoenixdragon's excellent 2010 spn_j2_bigbang piece, Perspectives, which left me feeling melancholy, and for some reason (because it never happens in her story) gave me the image of Dean in a hospital bed, quietly rejecting the comfort Sam tries to offer. The brain can be a weird, weird place.

Acknowledgements: This story was beta'ed by my RL friend, Alecto Nyx, and by rince1wind. They both pulled it apart and helped me to put it back together as a, hopefully, much better piece. Also thanks to jukeboxhound for having the theological knowledge I needed and being willing to share.

There were several sites I went to for information on how to honour the Four Directions but the one I liked best was fourdirectionsteachings.com. I read a lot on their site but used an embarrassingly small amount. Once again, I must thank the contributors and maintainers of Wikipedia and the supernatural wiki. They are both wonderful places to procrastinate in.

Final thank you to reapertownusa for hosting the spn_gen_bigbang. It's a lot of work to run something like this and she's done an awesome job!

New World Man - Master Post

New World Man banner by heard_the_owl

Summary: People thought life was tough in 1983; oil shortages and high mortgage rates and nuclear war on the horizon, but then something broke through the veil and it really became tough. People died by the hundreds of millions. Miles and miles of land became unusable. Communication, transportation, civil law… all of them were just wisps of what they could have been.

The government threw out reasons for the disaster that didn’t explain how Dust became a living thing covering half of North America, or how a virus turned people evil and then made them disappear, and they certainly didn’t explain why magic was suddenly real or why certain people were so good at bending it.

They also couldn’t explain how, in the depths of civilization’s collapse, one family’s destiny could save the world.

Characters: Dean, Sam, John, Bobby and Castiel. Also, Missouri and Gabriel, and as many other canon characters as fit in the story
Pairings: Dean/Sam, Sam/the Rubys, Dean/Carmen; There is some Dean/others, but it's mostly off-screen and not for fun
Disclaimer: Kripke owns them; we just shake them out and play with them.No profit is made. No insult is intended.
Rating: NC-17 [overall]
Word Count: approx 118,000

Contains: AU/AR, BDSM, blood play (demon blood specifically), death, explicit scenes, h/c, language, M/F, M/M, implied non-consensual sex, torture, and violence. But there is a happy ending.

The Art: As everyone knows, big bangs come with art. My story was claimed by the talented heard_the_owl who joined me in my geek examination of ‘how do sigils work?’ and agreed that shirtless pretties were absolutely necessary. (She also makes a kick-ass cheerleader.)

Thank You’s:

The final word must go to the mods and coordinators of the SPN J2 Big Bang: wendy and thehighwaywoman. An amazing amount of effort and organization goes into making this happen (so smoothly) so tributes and adulation to them both.

ETA: There's now a stand-alone prequel (timestamp, whatever), that takes place five years after the Storm. Outside POV.

A stranger rolls into town with kids in tow. He’s dangerous, but that’s okay.
Since the Storm covered the world in deadly, malevolent Dust, dangerous is a good thing.

It's available to read [ here ] or can be downloaded from my AO3 site [ here ].
